A tool such as “Convert to MP4” can be used on every open video, each saved in turn (Orihako Pass). One at a time is free.

Your tapes are on DVD now, with blue screens and snow at the start, the end and in between. No more hunting for them.

Select everything in the DVD’s VIDEO_TS folder, drop it into Trim and press “Convert and open”.
The video is checked in the background; the parts with nothing recorded (blue screen, snow, silent black) are hatched on the bar.
Press “Keep only the recorded parts” for one range per scene: “Part 1”, “Part 2” …
Save them joined into one video without the gaps, or one file per part, as VOB or MP4.
